About

Hi, I’m Garry Wilcox, and I help everyday people learn to use their camera with confidence—whether it’s for landscapes, travel, or simply capturing the moments that matter.
My 4-step framework is simple, but it’s built on more than 20 years of shooting, testing, and refining what actually works in real-world situations.
I started as an anxious teenager who just wanted to be a photographer. After finishing a uni degree and a Diploma of Photography, I knew all the technical stuff—shutter speed, aperture, lighting. Then I got my first real job: photographing a corporate event. Portraits, speeches, groups… and I completely bombed. The photos weren’t good enough, and the client wasn’t happy.
That experience taught me something crucial: knowing the settings isn’t enough. You need a clear, reliable approach you can fall back on, especially when the pressure’s on.
So I sought out some of the best photographers in my city and worked alongside them. Over the years, I’ve photographed landscapes, portraits, products, events and more, and I noticed a pattern: while styles were different, the foundations were the same. Those foundations became the basis of the 4-step framework I now teach.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your camera or unsure where to start, this course is for you. I’ll walk you through the same step-by-step method I use every day!
